Forecast recap:
Just a quick update tonight to see how the forecast issued on Saturday has panned out so far. Here in the mid-Hudson Valley, both Sunday and Monday were hot. Sunday's high at the Dutchess County Airport reached 91 degrees with a heat index of 93. Morning lows only got down to 70 degrees. For today, the National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for heat indexes in the upper 90s. The airport reported a high of 92 and a maximum heat index of 93. NYS Mesonet sites in the Valley nearly all reported highs of 90 with heat indexes of 90 to 95. Lows this morning fell a bit more than initally forecasted, likely due to radiative cooling under clear skies - lows were in the 64 to 67 range. Looking ahead to tomorrow, the National Weather Service has issued another heat advisory. The advisory for tomorrow is in place from 1PM to 8PM for temperatures that will feel like they're in the upper 90s. The heat advisory means that hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. The heat should break on Wednesday. This will be due to extensive cloud cover and rain over the region from the remnants of Hurricane Beryl.
