6:30PM Sunday:
Happy New Year! This is just a quick update to comment on recent weather and the upcoming week. A significant lake effect snowstorm has dropped over 5 FEET of snow across portions of northern New York over the past several days, but here in the Valley we've only seen some brief snow showers and flurries this weekend.
Looking ahead... it'll be calm, but cold across the Mid Hudson Valley this week. Temperatures will be coldest Tuesday morning through Thursday night. In the Kingston area, it will feel like its in the single digits overnight and into the early mornings. During the daytime it'll feel like it's in the teens. The cold weather should be less extreme by the end of the week and generally be about 15 degrees warmer heading into the weekend.
As for snow... no snow this week, but there is the potential for snow this weekend. There is currently about a 10-20% chance of accumulating snow from a storm that will pass to our south Saturday into Sunday. I'll monitor the storm over the next few days and have an update around the middle of this week.
Bundle up, and stay warm!
Next Update:
Later this week
